With interesting rock formations and two large talus caves, the 24,265-acre Pinnacles National Monument has activities for all kinds of adventurers. Hike the 30 miles of trails, explore the secrets of the caves or go rock climbing on one of the many challenging rock faces. Partially closed during most of the year, only the lower half of Bear Gulch Cave open during the fall, winter and spring months to protect the Townsend's big-eared bat colony that occupies the cave. The park is only 80 miles southeast of San Jose, but camping at the park is available for multi-day stays.
Open daily year round.
Vehicles $5; Individuals $3.
